The Area of rv from The Port of Santa Maria received 2,000 more rv in 2016

The public parking area and rv located next to the walkway Pepe the Steam co-hosted over the past year, 2016, to near 2.000 rv, who spent an average of two days in the city, being 80% of the clients of european instruments.

Tourism on the rise especially in low season

The past year since this group proposed to the city Council to enable in this area an official point for the parking of motorhomes, because they see that it is a type of tourism to the rise that brings visitors to the city especially in the low season, the months of December to march. The town Hall, in the beginning, did not see with bad eyes the proposal, but the local tourism sector expressed its resounding rejection, claiming that to do so, because there was a municipal campsite that could meet this demand.

Even so, since Feprodeca insist on the proposal and believe that it may be a ball of oxygen for this car park, which during a good part of the year is underutilized, in which the parking of vehicles is concerned.

The autocaravanista spent an average € 3,500 per year

Como explican desde la cooperativa «el autocaravanista gasta una media de 3.500 euros al año en su actividad turística y consumo combustible, restauración. alimentación, cultura y servicios». Consideran además que «el parking Pasarela es un lugar estratégico para el estacionamiento de estos vehículos por su fácil acceso, su cercanía al centro histórico y a medios de transporte como el tren o el catamarán. En pocos meses este punto se ha convertido en un referente para el sector, siendo ya incluida nuestra ciudad en las rutas creadas por agrupaciones de autocaravanas para sus asociados y para clubs internacionales».

Los responsables de Feprodeca entienden que «el turismo está cambiando y El Puerto no puede dejar que esta oportunidad pase de largo», al tiempo en que insisten que con esta actividad «no se perjudica a ningún sector y es una oportunidad para la creación de riqueza y empleo en la ciudad».

The co-op adds, moreover, that this car park could be adapted easily to provide service to these vehicles, according to the instruction 08/V/74, with the possibility of providing potable water supply, light, and a place for the emptying of containers and waste collection.

Para Feprodeca «un parking para autocaravanas con área de servicio es un generador de fondos para la ciudad donde se ubica y hace que la afluencia de viajeros se incremente de forma exponencial».
