VII Monumental Route Hiking in Merida

Next January 29 at 9:00 a.m. (concentration at 8:30 at the El Prado Hostel) the seventh edition of the hiking route will take place “Ruta Monumental Octavio Augustomonumental-hiker-meridaWalk Extremadura 2017”, in the city of Mérida.

It is a route of 14,760 km departing from the Municipal Hostel and arriving at the Congress Palace and which has an estimated duration of about 4 hours. In Mérida there are no large mountains or deep valleys, nor spectacular gorges or forests, but there are two rivers with their banks, and the mouth of one of them; and a very important monumental legacy of more than 2,000 years, from generations that preceded us.

For these reasons the route is called OCTAVIO AUGUSTO MONUMENTAL HIKING ROUTE, and will run, combining the natural part of the rivers, with the monumentality of the city, the adaptation of its banks for the enjoyment of citizens, integrating into the city as its lung and green zone.

The price of the Registration It is €5 (federated) and €7 (non-federated). The registration date is from January 10 to 18 for federated members and from January 19 to 26 for non-federated members.

At the end of the path there will be a act of coexistence at the municipal hostel where you can taste a typical dish and a drink.

The route is organized by the Hiking Club, Emerita Augusta and is sponsored by the General Directorate of Sports of the Government of Extremadura, the Extremeña Mountain and Climbing Federation (FEXME), the City Council of Mérida, the Consortium of the Monumental City of Mérida, Organics, and other institutions.
