Jerez Horse fair, dedicated to Lola Flores

The Jerez fair is coming, which for the second consecutive year will open this Saturday, from May 13 to 20, last year it was very well received with occupancy figures that reached close to 95 percent during the first weekend.

According to the Mayor, "The Horse Fair is an open, welcoming, and hospitable fair and we want it to be a space for the enjoyment of the elderly, children, families, young people or visitors of any geographical origin, we want it to be the great party of coexistence and security."

The City Council has prepared a device in which "220 Local Police officers will exercise their functions of control of street vending, traffic control in the outer perimeter and access, surveillance and control. As for the National Police, there will be 280 agents that will be part of the device, plus the Civil Guard through the 'Seprona' will have a presence at the Fair for the control of horses from the coordination and mutual support with the Government Sub-delegation.

The program tests the horse in the Fair activities will start the days 13 and 14 when it held the National championship of Harassment and Demolition in the Cortijo de Vicos, with free admission.

On Sunday, May 14, there will also be an exhibition at the Yeguada de la Cartuja, on May 15, an exhibition of dressage and jumping riders and on May 16, the VII Spanish Riding Championship, both in Stallions.

On the 17th and 18th the Vaquera Dressage Contest will take place and on May 19th, there will be the traditional Carriage Exhibition and the delivery of the Golden Horse to Nahman Andic Ermay.

Within the equestrian program, Ifeca will host Equisur 2017, from May 17 to 20, with the novelty of the celebration of the Work Equitation Contest.

The fairgrounds this year will have 1,160,602 points of light distributed in a complex infrastructure of double porches with 206 arches, 15 garlands and 120 projectors.

Also, as every year the City Council has set the Tuesday, May 16 as ‘Dia de los Cacharritos’.

The presentation of the Fair has included performances by Sevillanas from Coro Soleá y Compás and by some artists from Jerez such as Felipa del Moreno, Niño de la Fragua, El Londro, Melchora Ortega, Lela Soto, José de la Melchora, accompanied by the guitar of Nono Jero, who have participated in the album dedicated to Lola Flores that ended with bulerías.
