Seville is characterized by its craft industry led mainly by the ceramics and the pottery. The first works date from the Neolithic era, although it is in the Muslim period when they acquire their own personality, later enriched by techniques and formulas of classical styles. In this way we can find from decorative motifs of Islamic origin to baroque layouts of the s. XVIII, going through classic Italianate designs of the 16th century.

The production of artistic ceramics is located in the neighborhood of Triana and it begins in the Islamic era. Hispano-Muslim potters contributed glazing and its application to architecture in facades, floors, skirting boards and ceilings. Later, the Mudejar adopted oriental techniques that formed the basis of the local style. In this way, mosaics and tiles began to be made, predominantly hand-painted works with popular motifs. Surprisingly, today many of these ornaments continue to be the main protagonists in countless streets, buildings, patios and even small wineries or restaurants in our city.
The richness of the Guadalquivir Valley in mud and clay also has its domestic and agricultural application, thanks to the production by potters of typical elements of our land, such as pitchers or jugs, initially more functional than decorative.
Also noteworthy are the handcrafted pieces of the Carthusian, firm founded in 1839 by Charles Pickman.

Many of the fans, so used in our city, are painted by hand.
The flamenco dress is very important, which is the only regional dress that is subject to fashion, and its accessories, whose function is to enhance the dress (earrings, necklaces, bracelets, brooches, shawls, shoes, flowers, combs) all go to I play with the same.
In Seville, crafts are also closely linked to Holy Week, thanks to which some crafts. This is the case of gold embroidery workshops, goldsmithing, cabinetmaking, imagery or candle making. It is noteworthy the small size reproduction of the most famous religious images, for decorative purposes.

In the most central streets like Tetuan and Sierpes, Plaza del Duque and Magdalena, you can find these main fashion stores delimited in a large pedestrian area that invites you to stroll.
Along with them, the traditional markets located outdoors and on certain days of the week are still maintained, where visitors can find everything from used objects or valuable antiques to stamps, animals and crafts in general.
